Krivoy Rog to Get Jewish Kindergarten, Gymnasium

Wednesday, November 11 2009

KRIVOY ROG, Ukraine – The Jewish community of Krivoy Rog has started construction work on what will eventually be a new kindergarten and gymnasium, which will become part of a large Jewish education complex in this Ukrainian city.

Construction work is in full swing. The foundation pit has already been dug out and laid for the kindergarten building. In the near future, the foundation pit for the gymnasium will also be completed and the foundation poured.

The building will be a two-story structure. The kindergarten, which is expected to accommodate 60 children, will be located on the first and second floors. The gymnasium will be located on the ground floor. It will be equipped with basketball and volleyball equipment as well as gymnastic beams, rings, beams, parallel and uneven bars, climbing ropes, and a climbing wall.

This project was made possible thanks to several people to whom the Jewish community of Krivoy Rog feels a deep appreciation and gratitude. Gennady O. Korban sponsored the construction of the kindergarten, and Alexander I. Livshits and Vladimir L. Nemirovsky sponsored the construction of the gymnasium. The general contractors for this project are Rubicon Trading LLC and Shlyahpostach LLC. The project is slated for completion at the end of 2010.

Under the leadership of Rabbi Liron Edery, a Chabad Lubavitch emissary serving in Krivoy Rog, the local Jewish community has become a dynamic member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine.
