MOSCOW, Russia – This week, the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS and Baltic Countries received some good news from an unexpected source. The FJC website has been listed among the top 101 best undiscovered family history web sites by Family Tree Magazine.
This list will reach subscribers and buyers in the August 2005 issue of this magazine, which is currently being distributed and goes on sale at newsstands nationwide on Tuesday, June 21. The full list, including the FJC site can also be found on the Family Tree Magazine website, which will be honoring a different site from this list every day.
"Thanks for providing such a useful resource for the readers of Family Tree Magazine," wrote Allison Stacy, the magazine's Editor. "By reaching out to a broad consumer audience and making genealogy accessible even to beginners, we aim to share the excitement of family history and bring new users to valuable Web sites such as yours".
Family Tree Magazine is America's largest-circulation genealogy magazine, which helps its readers to discover, preserve and celebrate their family history. Its publishers also print a companion line of Family Tree Books, with a rich catalog including best-selling genealogy titles. For persons interested in doing genealogical research, the magazine's publishers also offer a free weekly e-mail newsletter, a service that provides genealogy news, tips and resources.
This recent announcement came as welcome feedback to the FJC CIS site, which has been running in English for about 1 ½ years now. The Russian site was launched nearly half a year ago and the Hebrew site was introduced just last month. The recognition awarded by the Family Tree Magazine will now bring word about the FJC CIS to a new set of readers.
