KAMENSK-URALSKY, Russia - The Jewish community of Kamensk-Uralsky is now able to enjoy its new home, since the lengthy renovations on that building have finally been completed. The construction work was made possible through the sponsorship of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, as well as donations from numerous members of the local Jewish community.

Jewish community Chairman Vladimir Chukhman, who was one of those who supported the fundamental renovations to the JCC, shared his joy after the mezuzah was affixed to the entrance and a psalm was recited. "It is so inspiring to witness how Jewish life is being revived in small cities, especially those like ours, which do not yet have a permanent resident rabbi!"

The inauguration of the Jewish Community Center has become one of the final parts of a film profiling the life of the Jewish community of Kamensk-Uralsky. The very final scenes of this film are being reserved for a visit to the new Synagogue and Jewish Community Center in Yekaterinburg and a meeting with the Chief Rabbi of Sverdlovsk Region, Zelig Ashkenazi. These events will take place in the near future. "May G-d make this new Communal Center a home for all Jews of our town and may it help them to re-gain their national origins!" said the Jewish leader with great enthusiasm.
