Moscow Humanitarian Aid Reaches 15,000 for Purim

Friday, March 14 2008

MOSCOW, Russia – The 'Shaarei Tsedek' Charity Center has launched its latest humanitarian campaign, which was launched in advance of Purim. The drive, which got underway on March 10th, will bring much-needed food aid to 15,000 Jewish individuals and families.

In addition to the standard items usually contained in such packages (i.e. fish, meat, canned goods, coffee), they also include kosher foods for the upcoming holiday – 'Hamentashen' and chocolate coins, which are usually given to friends on Purim. Everyone also receives informational brochures outlining the history, traditions and the four commandments of Purim. Bit by bit, family by family, 'Shaarei Tsedek' and the Jewish community of Moscow are reaching out to and touching the lives of Jews in Russia's capital.
